Sherburn manufacture Optare's Metrocity bus stuctures for New Zealand

Sherburn Metalwork is half way through a contract to manufacture structures for Optare's Metrocity vehicles, which will be shipped to New Zealand later this year.

The team are fully assembling and welding the structures for over 100 buses in-house, including the wet painting of the lower half of the structure, at current volumes of 8 per week.

The medium-sized Metrocity model is a low weight bus renowned for its manoeuvrability and fuel efficiency, and has a seating capacity of up to 44 passengers.

Byran Bentley, Sherburn Metalwork's General Manager, said: "This contract is a major breakthrough for Optare and Sherburn alike, and signals the exciting growth opportunities available in Australasia."
